Where to start?

Registration

Registration on Tabx is free for a trial period of one month. If your trial projects are smaller than 1000 respondents per project and 200 variables (fields) per project, then you can upload to Tabx and trial Tabx using your own project. Browse to Tabx Registration to grab yourself a trial license.

Uploading Projects

After you've registered and verified your email address, the next thing you'll want to do is upload a dataset. In Tabx, we call these datasets "Projects". Tabx accepts native SPSS .sav files, but if your data is for some reason in another format, we provide a handy excel template file you can paste that data and meta-data into. See Importing Survey Data into Tabx for more information.

Managing Project Meta Data & Data Processing

Once a project has been uploaded, there is only one required step if you wish to generate visualisations. If you're only interested in creating Crosstabs, you can go ahead and start building tables using the Crosstabs tool (see Using the Crosstabs Tool in Tabx), otherwise you'll need to add your variables into one of the available variable Groups. After doing only that, you'll be able to access the Dashboard and Interrogate tools. You can do this by clicking the blue "Edit Project" button on the Account / Projects page.

Commonly, you may also want to set up and define things like filters or multi-categorical questions or perform some data processing tasks like recoding or netting variables. This can all be done from the "Edit Project" page. For more information on project management and meta-data, read Basic Project Management in Tabx. Also see our in depth tutorial Survey Data Processing in Tabx

Creating Visualisations or Dashboards

Now that your project is set up, you can harness the power of Tabx's rapid collation engine and powerful charting and dashboard systems to create deliverables for your clients. We recommend spending some time exploring your data by using the Interrogate tool.

The Interrogate tool is a focussed environment where you can easily drill down into your dataset and create comparable chart and table "Windows". Using the Interrogate tool will familiarise yourself with the all important "Settings Dialogue", the drop down panel that controls how charts and tables are constructed within Tabx. For more info on the Interrogate tool, read Using the Interrogate Tool in Tabx. Information on understanding the settings dialogue can be found in Chart and Table configuration in Tabx.

Once familiar with how settings affect Chart and Table combo's, you can then progress into making fully interactive, data driven dashboards. Dashboards are comprised of "Cards" that can display Charts, Tables, Guages, Controls or Graphics. All card types have a similar drop-down settings dialogue allowing you to control not only what data is shown, but also the styling, look and feel of the card. Tabx contains a suite of features that allows users to brand their dashboards and create visualisations. For more information on how to construct dashboards, read Using the Dashboard tool in Tabx
